TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A Walker County man has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison after investigators found nearly 1,800 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on his cellphone and uncovered messages in which he attempted to buy sexually explicit material from a minor.
U.S. District Judge Annmarie C. Axon sentenced Larry King II, 29, of Quinton to 600 months in prison followed by lifetime supervised release.
King pleaded guilty in March to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography.
The investigation began after the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on March 19, 2024. According to King’s plea agreement, Snapchat had reported that an account associated with King shared an image containing child sexual abuse material.
Investigators traced King to a residence in Quinton and executed a search warrant there May 9, 2024. Agents seized his cellphone and an Xbox gaming system.
A forensic examination of the phone uncovered 798 images and 988 videos containing child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said.
Investigators also found Telegram conversations between King and a minor girl. According to the plea agreement, King attempted to purchase sexually explicit videos from the girl and sent $15 to her Cash App account. He did not receive the requested video despite making the payment.
Other Telegram conversations involved King’s purchase of Mega links containing suspected child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said. Investigators also discovered a sexually explicit Snapchat conversation between King and a girl believed to be 16.
Homeland Security Investigations and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys R. Leann White and Sara Judah prosecuted it.
