BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — A former funeral director at a Foley funeral home has been charged after investigators say he accepted payments for headstones and other funeral services that were never provided.
According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in March 2026 after a Baldwin County resident filed a complaint against Tim Street, who was serving as the funeral director at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley.
The complainant told investigators they had purchased a headstone for a recently deceased family member but, after months of repeated delays and excuses, never received the marker. The family also filed a complaint with the Alabama Funeral Service Board.
As detectives investigated, they identified multiple additional victims who reported similar experiences. Investigators said several families paid Street for headstones or markers that were never ordered or delivered, despite months and, in some cases, years of excuses.
During the investigation, detectives examined numerous personal and business bank accounts and discovered what they described as significant financial discrepancies.
According to the sheriff’s office, Street allegedly accepted cash and check payments from customers without depositing the money into Pine Rest Funeral Home’s business accounts. Investigators also determined he failed to complete the headstone orders and other promised services.
Authorities said the owners of Pine Rest Funeral Home immediately cooperated once they were informed of the allegations. The owners have since contacted affected families, worked to address outstanding concerns, and assisted investigators throughout the case.
Street was interviewed by investigators in June before being arrested and charged with First-Degree Financial Exploitation of the Elderly.
Investigators said additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Funeral Service Board are encouraging anyone who believes they experienced similar issues involving Street to contact investigators by calling 251-937-0202, option 1, to file a report.
