Birmingham Police Shut Down Illegal Business, Seize Guns and Drugs During Operation

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department shut down an illegally operating business Thursday during a coordinated enforcement operation that resulted in three arrests and the seizure of firearms and illegal drugs.

According to the department, the Special Operations Bureau conducted the operation on July 2 in the 600 block of 9th Street North at a business formerly known as “The Man Cave” and “The Money Club.”

Police said the business was operating illegally.

The operation involved multiple units within the Special Operations Bureau, including Business Compliance, the Special Enforcement Team (SET), the Community Safety Partnership (CSP), and the Narcotics Unit.

During the operation, officers seized multiple firearms and illegal narcotics.

Authorities arrested the following individuals:

  • Marques McConico, 48, of Birmingham — Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, First Degree
  • Latonya Graham, 47, of Birmingham — Operating a Business Without a License
  • Vincent Lawrence, 45, of Birmingham — Outstanding Traffic Warrants

The Birmingham Police Department said the enforcement action is part of its ongoing efforts to identify and shut down businesses operating outside the law that pose a threat to public safety.
