HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a Huntsville shooting that left one juvenile dead and another wounded, police said.
Huntsville Police officers responded around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, to the 2400 block of Mount Vernon Road after receiving a report of two shooting victims.
Officers found two juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds and provided medical assistance until Huntsville Fire & Rescue and HEMSI arrived.
Both victims were taken to Huntsville Hospital. One later died from his injuries, while the second was treated for a gunshot wound. Police have not released information about the surviving victim’s condition.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred in the 2500 block of Winchester Road, although the two victims were found on Mount Vernon Road.
The Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and identified a juvenile suspect. Police said the suspect was taken into custody shortly after 11:30 p.m. the same day.
Authorities have not disclosed what charges the juvenile faces or released details about what led to the shooting.
Because the suspect and both victims are juveniles, Huntsville Police said their names and other identifying information will not be released.
