Huntsville Man Charged With Murder After Father Killed on Blue Spring Road

A 36-year-old Huntsville man is charged with murder after police say he used a knife to kill his father and injure his mother during a domestic dispute Thursday night on Blue Spring Road.

Huntsville police arrested 36-year-old Jamar Montez McCaulley of Huntsville. He faces charges of murder-domestic violence and second-degree domestic violence aggravated assault, according to the Huntsville Police Department.

Officers found two victims

Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. October 15 to a report of a cutting in progress in the 4100 block of Blue Spring Road. They found a man with serious injuries and a woman with multiple lacerations.

Officers also found McCaulley and detained him without incident, police said.

Officers and medical personnel tried to save the man, but he died from his injuries. Police identified him as 58-year-old Jerome Napoleon Kelly of Huntsville. The woman suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

Investigators say a family dispute turned violent

The department’s Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. Investigators determined a domestic dispute broke out between McCaulley and his parents.

During that dispute, investigators determined, McCaulley used a knife to assault both of them. Police said he killed his father and injured his mother.

Police did not release the mother’s name, her age or a possible motive. The department did not say where McCaulley is being held.

An arrest and charge are accusations. McCaulley is presumed innocent unless a court finds him guilty.
