ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. — An 83-year-old Pell City man died after a head-on collision between two boats on Logan Martin Lake Thursday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:31 a.m. on June 25 near the Interstate 20 Bridge in St. Clair County.
Authorities said Gary M. Kendrick was operating a 1993 Ranger bass boat when it collided head-on with a 2005 Hurricane pontoon boat operated by 61-year-old Jeffrey R. Talley of Pell City.
Kendrick suffered critical injuries and was transported to UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital, where he later died.
A passenger aboard the bass boat, 81-year-old Barbara W. Kendrick of Pell City, was also injured and transported to UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital for treatment.
Talley was not injured in the collision.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
The Pell City Police Department and Lincoln Fire Department assisted at the scene.
No additional information has been released.
