BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Birmingham police have arrested a third suspect in connection with a June mass shooting that left two people dead and five others injured.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, 20-year-old Roderick Ivy of Birmingham was arrested Thursday, July 2, by the department’s Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) without incident.
Ivy has been charged with:
- Capital Murder (Two or More Victims)
- Five counts of Attempted Murder
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred on June 4 in the 100 block of Holley Avenue.
Police said Bernard Watts and Diandra Johnson were killed in the shooting, while five additional victims survived.
Ivy is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.
His arrest follows the arrests of two other suspects announced last week. Authorities previously charged 25-year-old Jaylon Hicks of Fultondale and 19-year-old Tarvarius Thomas of Birmingham in connection with the same investigation.
The Birmingham Police Department has not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
