Notasulga Man Arrested on Serious Child Sex Charges Following Reported Abuse

NOTASULGA, Ala. — A 33-year-old Notasulga resident was arrested Monday night on felony charges alleging the sexual abuse of a child, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call received at approximately 8:04 p.m. CST on January 26, 2026, reporting the sexual abuse of a child that occurred on Lee Road 217 near Notasulga in Lee County. Investigators quickly responded, gathered evidence, and arrested Dorisel Lee Briscoe at the scene.

Briscoe, who was residing at the location but is not related to the victim, faces one count of Sexual Abuse of a Child Less than 12 Years of Age and one count of Sodomy in the First Degree. These are serious Class A felony charges under Alabama law.

The child victim was immediately removed from the residence and placed into protective care. As standard procedure in such investigations, the child underwent a medical examination by authorities.

Briscoe is being held without bond in the Lee County Jail pending an Aniah’s Law hearing. Aniah’s Law, enacted to enhance public safety following the 2019 murder of Aniah Blanchard, allows prosecutors to seek pretrial detention for defendants charged with certain violent felonies, including rape and sexual offenses, by requesting a hearing where a judge determines if the individual poses a danger and should be denied bond.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the agency at 334-749-5651 or Central Alabama Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867). Tips to Crime Stoppers can be submitted anonymously.

Authorities emphasized the importance of community vigilance in protecting vulnerable children and encouraged prompt reporting of any suspected abuse. No further details about the victim or the specific circumstances have been released to protect the child’s privacy.
