Security Guard Charged in Fatal Shooting Near Birmingham Bus Station

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A security guard has been charged with manslaughter after a shooting near a Greyhound bus station left a Georgia man dead, according to police.

On Sunday, April 26th, Birmingham Police Officers responded to the 1800 block of Morris Avenue on reports of a shooting and found 46-year-old Angelo Herbert Hill Jr., of Valdosta, Georgia, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he later died.

Investigators said Hill had been involved in an argument with another man that escalated into a physical confrontation. During the incident, a security guard identified as Christopher Jarrett, 46, who was reportedly on duty, shot Hill.

Jarrett was taken into custody at the scene and charged with manslaughter. Authorities said he is being held without bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
